Up North Architects obtained full detailed planning approval for this mixed use development in the Conservation Area in Cheadle Village in August 2021.

Arising out of the COVID19 pandemic, we worked closely with the client Jonathan Alcock & Sons to assist with the reconfiguration of the existing funeral care operation. The project included the restoration of an existing workshop dating from the 1890s, and the creation of a new building, to provide new office, residential and community spaces. New and refurbished buildings are organised around a new central landscaped courtyard accessed through a 'green archway'.

 The project sought to make vital changes to the client estate to take account of the new demands imposed by rapidly changing healthcare considerations. Work is expected to start in 2023
